I had always wanted a baby sister.  I can remember even as young as age four, pleading with Mother and Father to give me a baby sister to play with.  When Catherine came along, I was so excited!  It did not even bother me that I got less attention. I was too caught up in this new person.

Oh I have plans for her!  We will have grand adventures!

Of course that was -before-.  That is how everyone seems to refer to it.  There was before.  And there is now.  Before, things were wonderful and rosy.  Father and Mother shared hugs and kisses.  Now all they share are hushed whispers and pained looks.

Catherine is the baby.  Was the baby.  That status seemed to shift when I got sick.
