1.3 James

THAT is the woman I am going to marry.

"You say something, James?"  Tom looked at me like I was crazy.  Was that out loud?

"Yeah Tom.  I'm going to marry that woman."  I nodded towards the petite woman that just walked by.

"Sure.  Sure.  You just marry the first woman you see in town.  I see how it is...” Tom kept walking, shaking his head.  But I knew.  She was the one for me.

Her long dark hair was slightly wavy and halfway down her back.  Judging by how she was dressed, she was not one of the villagers but that is not what caught my eye.  She seemed to glide through the chaos of the market as if it did not touch her.  And yet she connected with each person passing by.  Like she was seeing only the best in each person.  Groups of people parted to let her pass.  Carts moved to clear her path.  And all as if by magic.  Like the world was revolving around her.  And happy to do so.

"...and once we find out where we are staying, I wouldn't mind getting a drink or two and..." Tom kept on walking and talking, but I was not interested in what he had to say.  My path veered to follow hers.  Fascinated, I watched her buy a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, some fruit...

"James!"  Tom pulled me out of her spell.  "Have you even been listening to me?  This is important.  This is a fresh start and I for one don't want anything to screw it up."

"Ok ok." I focused on Tom's face.  But I could still see her out of the corner of my eye.  "Let's find a place to stay, get you some food and then a good night's sleep so we can make a good first impression tomorrow."  Tom looked relieved.  It's not really hard to focus on two things at once. Unless one of those things is discovering your future wife...
